Tonight I’ve been reading from John Stott’s short (and final) book entitled The Last Word. This book is about Stott’s last speaking engagement before retiring from public ministry was at the 2007 Keswick Convention. At the age of 86, Stott was asked this question:

Question: “How would you most like to be remembered?”

Answer: “I think as an ordinary Christian who has struggled in his desire to understand, to expound and to relate and apply the Word of God. I think that is how I would like to be remembered.” (page 65)

My thought: If I live to be 86, I hope I too can utter these same humble words.

I know that I have benefitted from the ministry of John Stott. I am particularly thankful for his writing ministry. His commentaries and books have been helpful to me in several ways.
